Buck’s Newest Camping Tools Take No Prisoners

Good rule of thumb: In the event of a disaster, have an axe.

It’s the season for spring camping, and to attack it like a pro you’ll want to gear up with Buck’s newest line of tools, which they’re calling the Compadre series. An apt name, because if you were stranded on a hike gone awry, these would be the only friends you’d want. The line includes an axe ($120), knife with four-inch blade ($90), and froe ($160) for clearing whatever’s foolish enough to get in your path.

Each is constructed with a heritage walnut handle and cherry red powdercoat blade of 5160 steel, giving them a vintage feel that’s as good-looking as it is dangerous.
