Ulysse Nardin Debuts Otherworldly Range Of ‘UFO’ Table Clocks

Just 30 editions of three different varieties of the remarkably intricate table clock were produced.

When Ulysse Nardin sets its sights on watchmaking innovation, the results are usually astoundingly precise, distinctly futuristic and seriously covetable. The same can be said for its new, out-of-this-world series of table clocks, the Ulysse Nardin UFO , which functions as entirely unique way to tell time from the comfort of your home.

It comes on the heels of the sale of an orange version, with proceeds going to charity at the Only Watch auction earlier this year, but regardless of color, these distinct oval table clocks are works of art.

The table clock is designed akin to a “roly-poly toy,” Ulysse Nardin notes, with the ability to snap back into place on its own, thanks to its half-spherical aluminum base.

All the while, the table clock boasts 675 components that work in harmony, just as with Ulysse Nardin’s game-changing, deeply detailed timepieces.

The eye-catching UFO table clock (Ulysse Nardin’s shorthand for “Unidentified Floating Object,” took two years of research and development, with an extra-large six-barrel design and a low-frequency 0.5hz, 49mm-rim balance wheel.

The movement is housed in a hand-blown glass dome that’s just 3mm thick: As Ulysse Nardin says, “the slightest flaw would compromise the entire piece.”

Such a memorable feat of design, engineering and watchmaking comes with the requisite price tag.

Each special edition (available in different colors through partners Bucherer, The Hour Glass and Yoshida) retails for about $68,600, but you’ll be gifted with perhaps the coolest table clock on the planet.
