Forget The Mile High Club, Turns Out People Are Hooking Up In Airports Now

Most of the action happens before you even step foot on the plane, apparently.

You already know the mile high club is basically the best club you could possibly hope to join. One in 8 people, in fact, report having experienced the thrill of hooking up on an airplane.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret. There’s something that’s even better than the mile high club: The “I just had sex in an airport” Club. Or the Terminal 3 Club, if you will. The Tarmac-Shag Club, maybe. I don’t know exactly what to call it, but it’s when you have sex in the airport.

According to a new survey conducted by a flight-shopping website, US.Jetcost.com, 1 in 10 travelers report having had sex in an airport, which means a lot of people are doing it. No pun intended.

Before we get into the sex stuff, let’s start off with some broad stats. Fifty-four percent of the people who took the survey reported shopping in the terminal to pass time before their flight, 67 percent said they get something to eat or get drunk, 41 percent said they’re perfectly fine simply plating a game on their phone, 39 percent watch Netflix, and 11 percent read emails, and a naughty 10 percent said they enjoy a quick pre-flight nookie.

Just a side note — the numbers add up to more than 100, because you can do more than one thing as you wait in an airport.

Okay, now for the good stuff. You might be thinking to yourself, “Where the hell am I supposed to hook up in an airport? By the magazines at Hudson News?” so let me tell you where the most common airport hookups happen.

Forty-two percent of respondents said they go for it in the bathroom, while 28 percent said they find themselves a nice, cozy storage cupboard to get it on in. Additionally, 12 percent knock boots in a VIP lounge, which is more or less acceptable, considering they pay for luxury services, which can include sex, I guess.

Most notably, 14 percent said they have sex “under a coat,” which is cool and all, but I have one question: how???

Sadly, 17 percent of the respondents claim to have been caught, and my educated guess is that most of them were the people having sex “under a coat,” probably because it’d be quite visible to everyone around them.

Yeah, so there’s that. Now you know that there’s a better way to pass time at the airport than sniffing cologne at Duty Free.

Happy travels!
