Bulleit Bourbon Has Unleashed A 125 Proof Barrel Strength Whiskey

This stuff isn’t for whiskey wimps.

Bulleit, the tasty Kentucky “frontier” whiskey known for its high rye content, is coming out with a ballsy new barrel strength bottling for those who like their hooch at high proof. Straight from the barrel, “uncut and unfiltered,” the limited edition bourbon will range from 118 to 125 proof depending on the batch.

Distilled in Kentucky from the highest quality ingredients, the barrels selected to create Bulleit Barrel Strength were emptied and combined into a single batch without the addition of any water, as is the usual practice to produce a whiskey at 80 to 90 proof. The potent spirit was then bottled at the historic Stitzel-Weller distillery in Louisville, KY, the home of Bulleit.

Bulleit Barrel Strength is described as medium-amber in color, with gentle spiciness and sweet oak aromas. On the palate, it’s very smooth with tones of maple, oak, and nutmeg. The finish is long, dry and satiny with a light toffee flavor, but with deepened oak notes.

No word yet on when you might be able to get your hands on some outside of Kentucky, but we’ll keep you posted – after we get ours….
