How Long Do You Last in the Sack? A State-by-State Guide to Sex Times
The long and very, very short of boning across America.
Unless you’re Sting, research shows that on average, satisfactory sexual intercourse (minus all that foreplay stuff) lasts between 3 and 13 minutes. So when the sex tracking app Spreadsheets launched last year (yes, an app that uses your phone’s accelerometer and speakers to measure your thrusts, decibel peak and duration), people probably expected that the user stats would stack up somewhere in that timeframe. Well, now that the folks at Nerve.com have gone ahead and crunched those numbers and broken them down into state-by-state averages, we can report that just about half of America’s sexytime falls within that 10-minute window, albeit on the much, much lower side.
New Mexico comes in at first place, where sex lasts about seven minutes and one second. Yup, that’s almost right in the middle of satisfactory sex times. Five states are having sex for between four and five minutes, 17 states are banging for between three and four minutes, with New York creeping in at one second above the three-minute mark. Everyone else is having sex for just one to two minutes, with the northern-most state, Alaska, coming in right at the bottom at 1:21. Well, it is cold up there…
See where your state ranks.
