Know Your Basketball
March Madness finally arrives this week, but before you begin screaming like a lunatic at your TV while watching college ball for the next two and a half weeks, investor Warren Buffett would like to make you an offer you can't refuse. All you need to do is be one of the first 15 million people to fill out an NCAA tournament bracket on Yahoo, and guess the outcome of all 63 games correctly, and Buffett will give you $1 billion. No big deal. Oh - except that the odds of winning aren't just slim to none; they're 1 in 9.2 quintillion. Literally. But we'll be pulling for you, champ.
Get a Hole-in-One
If you've got a solid golf swing, then you could be lucky enough to win $1 million courtesy of Legend Golf and Safari. The South African resort is home to the most extreme golf course in the world, and allegedly offers a cool $1 million prize to anyone who can make a hole-in-one on the 19th hole. Naturally, there's a catch: In order to reach the so-called "Extreme19th," players must take a helicopter to Hanlip Mountain, a cliff 587 meters away from the pin. Due to the epic distance, golf balls are equipped with tracking devices since the naked eye is unable to follow it once it’s flung off the mountain. Unsurprisingly, a single player has yet to snag the apparent prize money. But someone has to win eventually, right? So it might as well be you.
Invent a New Chip Flavor
After the success of their 2013 competition, the folks at Lay's potato chips have brought back their popular “Do Us a Flavor” competition in search of a new taste to add to their delicious collection. If chosen, the winner receives a grand prize of $1 million or 1% of the chip’s profit (whichever proves more profitable to the inventor). Even if you’re a loser, you could make out with a hefty sum of money: three runner-ups will be awarded $50,000 for their efforts. So, stop trying to make Honey Flavored Nicolas Cage chips happen, and start thinking about flavor combinations you might actually want to try.
