What A Beautiful Girl Wants: Eiza González

The sultry star of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series tells us what she’s looking for in a man.

When Robert Rodriguez set about adapting his cult classic From Dusk Till Dawn for television, fans waited with bated breath to find out who would take on the role of Santánico Pandemonium, the snake-charming vampiress famously played by Salma Hayek in the 1996 original.


Anticipatory viewers, however, breathed a long sigh of relief when the gorgeous Eiza González made her first appearance as the revived enchantress. Performing the character’s trademark burlesque dance with a live snake coiling around her swaying body, the Mexican actress managed to match her sultry predecessor all the while making an unforgettable Hollywood debut.


González, currently in transition from a career in Mexican telenovelas to Hollywood, recently chatted with Maxim about the upcoming second season of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, adjusting to US dating culture, and what she’s looking for in a man.

Has anything surprised you about the dating scene in the United States?


The culture is very different. Latin America is more religious, old school and conservative than the United States. People in the States are a lot more open-minded and casual when it comes to dating. For example, in Mexico, it’s a huge tradition that guys ask girls to be their girlfriends with a big event. In the States, dating is more relaxed. It’s really different, but I love both! It’s diverse, and I enjoy it. Different experience for sure…

Could you describe your ideal date?


To be honest, I don’t really have an ideal date. For me, creativity is key. It doesn’t have to be very elaborate! It’s all really about having fun. It can go from an amazing dinner to a casual movie date. It’s all about how I get along with the person I go out with. I usually have very good instincts with the types of guys I choose to date, so I don’t go out on a lot of dates. Normally, I go on a date once, and then it turns out I was right about them, and I end up having a relationship. I have probably been out on 10 dates my whole life.

Your character in the show is known for snake charming. So what does it take for a man to charm you?


I’m a sucker for presence and personality. If I see a confident man, I am sold. And beautiful eyes never hurt anyone.

How do you let those lucky men know you’re interested?


I’ve become very simple when it comes to dating. If I like you, I’ll let you know. I’m Latin. We are straightforward.

What about a man turns you on the most?


Eyes, lips, and making me laugh. An intelligent man with a good sense of humor is always key!

When do you feel sexiest?


When I’m at the beach and tanned with salty hair.

What can a man do to make you feel sexy?


When a man makes a woman feel confident, she will open up more to him. She will feel comfortable around him, and that makes her feel sexy.

What more can we expect from your character next season? Anything as exciting as your burlesque performance?


The next season is just badass in every way! My character grows completely and shows different sides to her – from evil to good; from sexy to tough as nails; sensitive but uncontrollable. People will really like this season in my opinion.

We certainly can’t wait. Do you have any more upcoming projects we can look forward to?


I do but I can’t talk about them. But what I can say is you’ll definitely see me soon – sooner than you would imagine – on the big screen. I can’t wait for people to see what’s coming! I’m excited and hope they like it, because I love what I do and do it with all my love.
