Why Does the World Hate Sex Robots?

A “Love and Sex with Robots” conference was just banned in Malaysia. But what have the robots ever done to us?

Sex robots seemingly exist to fill our hearts with joy and make our lives a little merrier. But a lot of people beg to differ. Just recently, two robotics researchers even went as far as starting a campaign to ban sex robots because they think robo-sex is really, really bad for humans. Buzzkill.

Well, looks like those two researchers might have found their best friend, and together they can unite to form a trinity of sexbot hate. Malaysian Inspector-General of Police, Khalid Abu Bakar, reportedly deemed an upcoming conference called “Love and Sex with Robots” illegal. The conference was set to cover topics including robot emotions, entertainment robots, and electronic sex hardware.

“There’s nothing scientific about sex and robots!” Abu Bakar said during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday. “It’s already an offense in Malaysia to have anal sex, what more intercourse with robots. I’m warning the organizers, don’t hold such conferences in Malaysia,” he said.

If people were to have sex with robots, what would be so bad about it? Probably nothing. In fact, it would probably make a lot of horny people and their privates a lot happier. Just like the people who seriously thought the computer apocalypse was going to happen in 2000, sex robot haters will feel like huge asshats when the world keeps spinning after the widespread launch of sex robots.
