Following months of silence from French detectives, 16 suspects have been arrested in relation to the Kim Kardashian robbery, wherein the reality star was robbed at gunpoint for around $9 million worth of jewelry.
Police initially claimed that Kardashian had been assaulted by five masked intruders; however, the arrests signal that either more were at the scene of the crime or more were involved in orchestrating the heist.
The Telegraph reports that the suspects are a "mixed group" of men mostly in their fifties, with one as old as 72. Detectives were able to determine their identities through DNA traces left at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, where the attack took place on Oct. 3.
"One of the prints matched an individual known to police for hold-ups and common law cases–a high-level gangster," a police source told The Telegraph. One suspect even attempted to sell one of the stolen pieces of jewelry to a re-seller.
For her part, Kim Kardashian will break her silence on the horrifying attack in a forthcoming (and teary) episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
