A Florida family on a Christmas cruise found themselves experiencing something akin to a famous scene from the Stephen King and Stanley Kubrick horror classic The Shining when blood began pouring in sheets from a ship’s elevator.

Matt Davis told TV station Fox 4 Now that he and his family had a great time on board the Carnival Ecstasy, until the final night, when he captured the unsettling video featured in Fox 4 Now’s report on his phone:
“To look and see the elevator with just blood coming down like a sheet, and not stopping… it was a real life scene of The Shining,” Matt Davis said (. . .) The couple said time stood still, it sounded like a rainstorm, and they could smell the blood.
Davis said they’d been headed to eat when they saw the blood, which stopped them in their tracks.
Fox 4 Now reported that the blood was the result of a tragic accident involving crew electrician Jose Sandoval Opazo, age 66. Opazo was doing some kind of maintenance work in the elevator shaft when he was crushed by a car.
Carnival has offered to pay for any counseling the Davis family may need to cope with the event.
