A couple years after an automaker introduces a model, its sheen of novelty wears off and with it, sales. News flash: consumers love what’s hot and new. Instead of undertaking huge project of redesigning a car, though, companies will instead release special editions: shined up versions of the old car. Some—like the 2000 Mustang Cobra R—are legendary.
