Apparently Airbags Can Morselize Watermelons

This horrifying, melon-obliterating video shows why timing is everything.

In a top example of “better late than never” thinking, Honda has recently recalled thousands of Accords with improperly installed Tanaka airbags that were killing its customers. In what seems to be an inadvertent and horrifying illustration of what happened to its unluckier customers, a two year-old video for Honda Genuine Parts shows the importance of a perfectly functioning airbag. Deployed in time, an airbag provides a pillowy cushion for a fast-traveling noggin; deployed too late, an airbag will demolish a human head like a Louisville Slugger to an ostrich egg. In the interest of full disclosure, one watermelon was hurt—nay atomized—in the making of this video.
