Catastrophic Structural Failure Sends This NHRA Dragster 30 Feet In The Air
Seeming to defy forces of physics, veteran Larry Dixon walks away from this 200 mph wreck. Has the whole world gone crazy?
Top-fuel dragsters use insane torque and immense aerodynamic downforce to hit around 330 mph in under five seconds. In this video, those two forces combine to snap veteran Larry Dixon’s dragster clean in half, with the delicate nose rolling to the side of the track and—terrifyingly—the driver capsule flying through the air and into a concrete barrier. Despite the shattered car, copious flames and Cirque de Soleil-worthy acrobatics, Dixon walked away from the crash to race another day. These guys are crazy.
