Watch This 800-HP Hennessey Escalade Smoke a Camaro ZL1 In a Drag Race

The supercharged Caddy does an insane 11.7-second quarter mile.

Hennessey Performance specializes in speed, but typically that speed involves machines that look fast, like the Venom F5, Exorcist Camaro or VelociRaptor.

But it turns out that Hennessey can make the barn you park your sports car inside go fast too. Or so it seems, when the shop turns out the likes of the HPE800 Supercharged Cadillac Escalade, a big, boxy SUV that can out-sprint the viciously fast Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

The pumped-up Caddy rips from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and completes the quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds at 116 mph. In the video, you can see that the all-wheel drive Escalade gets the jump on the rear-drive Camaro off the line and the Chevy never recovers the lost advantage through the rest of the run.

As you might guess, the ‘HPE800’ produces 805 horsepower at the flywheel. And an amazing 812 lb.-ft. of torque.

This power comes from a high-flow 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger with and air-to-water intercooler. 

This provides the forced induction to a small block Chevy V8 enlarged to 416 cubic inches and reinforced with forged aluminum pistons, billet steel H-beam connecting rods and forged steel wrist pins to withstand the combination of the supercharger’s 10 psi of boost pressure and a 10.0:1 compression ratio.

Everything else is ported, polished, balanced and blueprinted in the hot rodding tradition.
