Now You Can Explore America in a Ford Camper

Good news, outdoorsy types: Ford has unveiled a line of campers for its F-Series pick-ups.

The truck fanatics at Ford want to help you find something to haul with one of their best-selling F-Series pickups. So they’ve cut a deal with Livin Lite, a division of RV maker Thor Industries, for a line of Ford-branded travel trailers and truck campers. Naturally, there will also be toy haulers, those specialized campers with a built-in garage in the back to ferry motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles or what-have-you.

“Exploring America is in our customers’ DNA and recreational vehicles are part of Ford’s history, so these new camping options are great for our adventurous customers,” said Mark Bentley, Ford Licensing manager. “Ford is an industry leader in towing technology, so it was only natural for Ford to license its name and designs in this industry.”

Livin Lite draws its name from the brand’s use of lightweight aluminum to build its campers, which perfectly matches Ford’s commitment to using aluminum in its pick-up trucks.

Ford slide-into-the-bed truck campers will be offered for 6- and 8-foot truck beds, while the first travel trailers and toy haulers will be offered in 22- and 24-foot lengths. Additional products, including longer fifth-wheel trailers and shorter pop-up campers, are also planned.

Look for the truck campers in early 2016, to be followed by the trailers in the second quarter. The new Ford Raptor should arrive about that time, which would make a perfect fit with one of these beauties.
