Polaris Unleashes ‘Urban Assault Slingshot’ by Gas Monkey Garage at SEMA

Richard Rawlings of “Fast N’ Loud” fame created a custom autocycle that rides high on 35-inch rims.

From the Ford Bronco DR to the Chevy Beast, SEMA 2021 is brimming with rad rides. But this custom Polaris Slingshot by Gas Monkey Garage is definitely the raddest…on three wheels, anyway.

The Texas custom outfit’s founder, Richard Rawlings of Fast N’ Loud fame, stipulated that the build had to be done the “Gas Monkey way.” In this case, that meant overhauling the suspension with a lift to push the Slingshot into the sky.

He and his crew started with what appears to be a Slingshot R (from $31,299), which runs a 203-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder and is good for 60 mph in under five seconds.

Work began on the front suspension with the forging of tubular upper and lower control arms and the installation of a stronger sway arm to gain four-to-five inches of travel. In the rear, Gas Monkey molded its own swingarm out of a single sheet of metal.

With these changes made, beefy 35-inch tires could be wrapped around the stock rims. A custom front bumper and GMG-emblazoned skid plate accommodate the increased ground clearance, while an eight-bulb KC light bar, the removal of stock wind valences, and a two tone desert tan/high-impact orange paint coat give the Slingshot an “Urban Assault” character.

And if you need evidence that Polaris really did honor Rawlings’ stipulation, the introduction of rollcage-mounted jerry cans in the reveal video is even accompanied by a contradicting “never carry fuel on the vehicle” safety disclaimer.
