We have to wait until its full unveiling next week at the Geneva Motor Show for full details, but Renault has released the first photos of the Alpine A110 sports car, a machine it says reflect "the timeless principles of compact size, light weight and agility."

The A110 is aided in achieving its goal by a lightweight aluminum platform and body.

The original A110 debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 1962, two years ahead of the Porsche 911. Like the Porsche, the Alpine used a rear-mounted, air cooled engine with swing axle independent rear suspension.
