The McLaren Artura 1000GP By MSO Celebrates F1 Grand Prix Milestone
The supercar is inspired by the McLaren MCL40 race cars that drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will pilot around the historic Monaco Grand Prix circuit.

McLaren is celebrating its status as one of Formula 1’s most enduring and beloved teams with a special edition of its first series-production High-Performance Hybrid (HPH) supercar.

The Artura 1000GP, a project by the McLaren Special Operations customization division, is so named for what will be McLaren Racing’s 1,000th F1 Grand Prix race start at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix. Fittingly, its livery takes inspiration from that of McLaren MCL40 race cars that drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will pilot around the historic and glamorous street circuit.

The hood, lower body sides, and wing mirror casings all feature “1000GP” graphic covers in papaya orange over a dark gray body—free from the clutter from sponsors plastered about and aggressive shape of an F1 car, the colorway takes on an almost artistic elegance that showcases a low-slung, sculpted bodywork. A contrasting pinstripe detail on the front splitter and rear diffuser inspired by McLaren’s heritage liveries completes the design. While images weren’t provided of the interior we’re told that there’s a metallic papaya orange color commemorating the 1000th grand prix.

While McLaren is coming off a Drivers’ and Constrctors’ championship-winning season—its first time doing so since 1999—it’s rich history dates back to its founding in 1963 by New Zealand driver Bruce McLaren. Emerson Fittipaldi delivered McLaren’s first Constructors’ and Drivers’ titles in 1974 before Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, and Mika Häkkinen helped mint seven more Drivers’ titles through 1999. Notably, current Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton won his first title at the hands of a McLaren F1 car in 2008.

While considered McLaren’s “entry-level” supercar, the Artura is a helluva foundation for the 1000th GP anniversary. Unveiled in 2021, it ushered in the new McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture and a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that works in concert with an electric motor to rocket the Artura to 60 mph in three seconds on the way to 205 mph.

“Racing and road cars have always been shaped by the same mindset at McLaren, and the McLaren Artura 1000GP by MSO celebrates that shared foundation,” said McLaren CEO Nick Collins. “It reflects the environment Bruce created—an environment built on collective ambition, engineering excellence and a unified approach to progress. Through this shared purpose, our teams continue to craft vehicles that carry his spirit forward. The McLaren Artura 1000GP by MSO is a testament to that legacy and offers our clients a meaningful connection to the MCL40 in a milestone moment.”
