Watch the Lamborghini Aventador SV Break 7 Minutes at the Nurburgring

It turns out all that carbon fiber actually makes a faster car.

We just spent a good amount of time lavishing attention on the Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce’s beautiful bod—the carbon fiber wing, new wheels, and maximized aerodynamic shaping that make the SV such an eye feast. But, lest we or anyone forget, the SV was built for pure, brutal speed, with its new looks only a byproduct. The proof? One of Lambo’s ace test driver’s raced the new SV around Germany’s infamous Nurburgring in under 7 minutes. With special Pirellis and a clear track, the big car with the vicious, 740-horsepower V12 did a lap faster than track-ready heavyweights like the Nissan GT-R Nismo, Dodge Viper ACR, and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, placing it among the top five fastest production cars to lap the circuit. And, truly, no other car sounds so good working so hard—take a listen.
