WATCH: We Can’t Look Away From this Creepy Tesla Prototype

It looks like Doc Ock lost an arm.

We already knew Tesla Motors wasn’t afraid to embrace the insane. Today Elon Musk‘s shiny, humming future factory posted a strange and hypnotic Youtube video proving innovation can sometimes be beautiful and a little alarming, in addition to, well, insane.

This is 36 seconds of something that looks like the Terminator’s spinal column doing a measured, sinuous dance until it  finds its home in the vehicle’s charging port, but it’s hard to not just keep clicking “Replay” and imagine being all alone at the charging station at midnight, with the finalized version of this prototype slithering through the dark toward your car.
