Conor McGregor Crashes Bellator Match, Fights the Referee and an Official

This is his version of downtime.

No rest for the weary or the crazy. Conor McGregor is one of those, maybe even both, and even if he hasn’t got a scheduled match on his calendar until late December, he’s still ready to fight, well, anyone.

“Anyone” in this case being Bellator refs and officials, apparently.

McGregor was ringside at Bellator 187 in Dublin when his SBG Ireland teammate Charlie Ward flattened John Redmond. The Notorious One was going to give Ward his congratulations when he found himself blocked by referee Marc Goddard and other officials.

Seems that since McGregor wasn’t Ward’s official corner man, he wasn’t allowed in there. He scuffled with Goddard and started running his mouth. He was pulled away—probably for his own good—then he vaulted back into the Octagon and smacked an official.

Because really, isn’t that just the most Conor McGregor thing he could do?

This probably sets McGregor up for some kind of punishment from organized MMA—the UFC, Bellator—either in the form of a fine, suspension, or both. Social media users seemed certain of that. They also kind of enjoyed his shenanigans.

One thing seems sure. After his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor is a very wealthy man. He may have a film career waiting as well, doing action flicks where the casting director says ‘get me Jason Statham, but with hair and insane.’

Whatever penalties McGregor receives likely won’t be that big a deal to him.
