Brendan Schaub hasn't fought in the UFC in three-and-a-half years, but the former heavyweight can still make headlines in the fight press.
These days, Schaub makes his living with his mouth as a stand-up comic, podcast host and frequent guest on Joe Rogan's uber popular podcast. And it was on one of these podcasts where this saga starts.
Schaub, who went 10-5 in his MMA career, recently spoke about the difficultly kick boxers face in transitioning to MMA. His comments caught the ear of Israel Adesanya, a former kickboxer who's now competing in the UFC. Adesanya posted a video of Scahub's comments on Instagram and definitely seemed to dismiss them.
Dana White jumped into the comments to tell Adesanya to ignore Schaub, Then he took shots at his former employee.
“Such a fuckin tool!!!!” White commented. “What the fuck does this idiot know about the sport or the business??? @stylebender for u to be listening to one word from this MORON is a waste of ur time. Guy went 6-5 in the UFC!!! The only thing he could teach u is how to get KO’d. Tune idiots like this OUT.”
Schaub shot back at White, writing, "@danawhite whoooooooa look who got a break from folding Ronda’s laundry to jump on instagram,” Schaub replied. “Bravo sir. He’s right @stylebender what do I know listen to the bald fat guy who has never been in a fight in his life. Do that.”
But White, the 48-year-old executive at a major sports company, continued to mix it up in the IG comments. When a fan mentioned Schaub's successful post-fight career, White wrote: “He’s successful? As soon as Rogan stops carrying him he will disappear.”
Sachub responded on Twitter with a long rant that included one especially notable line.
Schaub's "eskimo brothers" comment has gotten a lot of attention from those who think that he's hinting at a supposed romantic relationship between the UFC boss and former MMA queen Ronda Rousey. At least that's the take in some gossipy corners of combat sports Twitter:
Schaub reportedly dated Rousey back in the day, and White's friendship with the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame is no secret. But at this point, it's all just speculation from random Twitter users, and it seems pretty unfair that Rousey is even getting dragged into Schaub and White's melodramatic little spat.
Whatever the may be, MMA obsessives are taking note of the increasingly bitter feud. Schaub's "last warning" at the end of his rant seems to indicate that if White keep slamming him, he's going to keep throwing bombs.
