Let’s start the recounting of this bizarre tale of hockey WAGS gone wild with some introductions. The brunette above is Melinda Karlsson, wife of Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson. And the blonde is Monika Caryk, who is engaged to Senators forward Mike Hoffman.

Karlsson claims that Caryk is a straight-up cyberbully who spent months insulting her and sending threats through online burner accounts. The threats appear to have begun in November when the Karlssons announced that they were expecting their first child.

“Monika Caryk has uttered numerous statements wishing my unborn child dead,” Karlsson says in court documents. Tragically, the baby was stillborn in March.

Caryk also wished Karlsson dead, Melinda Karlsson claims, and said she hoped hubby Erik would suffer a career-ending injury. “Monika Caryk has posted over 1,000 negative and derogatory statements about me as a professional,” Karlsson said.

Perhaps the harshest comment lobbed at Karlsson came on an Instagram post in which Erik Karlsson revealed that his wife lost their unborn son. “I feel bad for the baby he didn’t have a chance with Melinda popping pain killer medication everyday,” the comment said.

Hoffman vehemently denied the allegations made about his fiancé in an interview with the Ottawa Citizen. “There is a 150 per cent chance that my fiancée Monika and I are not involved in any of the accusations that have been pursued (that are) coming our way,” he said. “We’ve offered to cooperate and do anything it takes to find out who is doing this, and support [the Karlssons]. Obviously this is a tough time that they’re going through, and we want to find out who is doing this, because for some reason it’s coming into our court, and it’s 150 percent that it’s not us.

But Hoffman’s denial was contradicted by several other WAGS who suggested that Caryk has been trouble for more than just the Karlssons.

This is Marlee Hammond, whose husband Andrew played for the Senators from 2013 to 2016.

This is Kodette LaBarbera, wife of retired goaltender Jason LaBarbera

And this is Julie Turris, who’s married to former Senator Kyle Turris.

All in all, it’s a messy situation indeed.
