The rectangular watch (“tank” in Cartierspeak) has a patrician look to it – and that’s not a mistake. Unlike a round-faced watch, which often includes information-heavy concentric dials and meters, rectangular watches are are exercises in restrained simplicity: two sets of parallel lines, with the upper and lower sides melting seamlessly into a leather (or silver) bracelet.
