G-Shock And Bruce Lee Estate Join Forces For Special Edition MR-G Watch
The martial arts legend would have turned 80 in 2020.
G-Shock is celebrating what would be Bruce Lee’s 80th birthday on November 27, 2020 with a limited-edition collaborative watch.
The MRG-G2000BL-9 brings the Enter the Dragon icon’s signature style to the rugged Casio-owned brand’s flagship MR-G series. The titanium case and Dura Soft Fluoro-Rubber band are clad in yellow and black, recalling the tracksuit donned by Lee in Game of Death.
Meanwhile, the combination of yellow and red used on the indices for the MR-G logo and second hand are the same colors used on the emblem of Jeet Kune Do, the martial arts philosophy founded by Lee.
A Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC)-coated titanium bezel is engraved with Chinese characters that translate to “Using no way as a way, having no limitation as limitation,” a hallmark phrase of Jeet Kune Do. The 3 o’clock position is adorned by Lee’s Chinese nickname “龍” character, which translates to “dragon.” A scratch-resistant sapphire glass crystal protects the dial.
In addition these and other thoughtful nods to the late Hong Kong cinema legend, the MRG-G2000BL-9A is also loaded with the following G-Shock technology:
- Shock Resistant
- 200M Water Resistance
- Airplane Mode
- Super Illuminator LED Light
- World Time (39 time zones)
- Daily Alarm
- Full Auto Calendar
- 1/1 Sec. Stopwatch (24H)
- Countdown Timer (24H)
Limited to just 300 examples, the G-Shock x Bruce Lee MR-G model will retail for $4,000 at select jewelers and the G-Shock SoHo Store.
