Luxury watchmaker Jacob and Co. has unveiled a collaboration with hypercar brand Bugatti and renowned crystal maker Lalique to produce a highly exclusive table clock priced at a whopping $240,000. The high-end timepiece, named the Bugatti Calandre, represents a three-year research and development process between the three luxury brands, blending high horology with historic automotive design and traditional French craftsmanship.

The table clock draws heavy inspiration from Bugatti’s aesthetic heritage. Its name, Calandre, is the French word for radiator grille, a direct nod to the iconic horseshoe-shaped front grille found on Bugatti hypercars. Structurally, the clock pays homage to the legendary Bugatti Type 41 Royale through two intricately sculpted crystal dancing elephants flanking the dial. The figurines are a tribute to the late sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti, brother of company founder Ettore Bugatti, and are styled in a symmetrical format that defined classic Lalique clock designs from the early twentieth century.

Beneath the automotive styling elements, Jacob and Co. integrated its proprietary caliber JCAM58 movement, which features a vertical flying tourbillon. Originally invented to counteract the disruptive effects of gravity on stationary timepieces, the tourbillon serves its traditional purpose within the fixed frame of the table clock while referencing the engineering of Bugatti’s latest tourbillon sports cars. The hand-wound mechanism features 189 components and boasts an eight-day power reserve. Owners can adjust the time and wind the clock using a custom key that inserts directly into the caseback.

The exterior structure is manufactured entirely by Lalique at its workshops in Wingen-sur-Moder, France. Artisans utilize decades-old techniques, pouring molten crystal into engineered steel molds before spending months hand-finishing, frosting, and polishing the surfaces to accentuate light and shadow. The partnership highlights deep historical ties, as automotive pioneer Ettore Bugatti and glassmaker René Lalique were early business partners in the Alsace region of France more than a century ago.

The top of the clock features a 30-millimeter red gemstone cut into a patented, 288-facet round shape known as the “Jacob Cut.” The deep red shade echoes the official Bugatti brand logo, known as the Macaron, which sits prominently above the grille details on the clock face. The Bugatti Calandre table clock is limited to a production run of 99 pieces worldwide. Each clock is delivered in a bespoke tan leather trunk designed to mimic the premium upholstery found within Bugatti interiors. According to a statement shared by the brands, the pieces officially became available for purchase through Jacob and Co. retail shops in early June.
