Abercrombie & Fitch Launches New Collection Inspired by JFK’s Yacht Style
Marilyn Monroe not included.
Abercrombie & Fitch, before it aggressively marketed to teenagers with garishly branded muscle tees, was once one of America’s great heritage brands.
It’s trying to get some of its old preppie magic back. Abercrombie is debuting a new capsule collection inspired by late President John F. Kennedy, who once sported a pair of A&F chinos.
Abercrombie bought back those original JFK chinos at auction, and then revamped the design for the masses. These ones are 100 percent twill cotton with tonal herringbone pocketing, a loose fit, a high waist and a straight leg and go for $98.
There are also more pieces inspired by JFK’s timelessly cool New England sensibility. They include swim trunks, a fleece hoodie with an A&F “Sailing Club” logo, a sailing jacket with an A&F “storm” logo, red-white-and-blue T-shirts and more.
You will feel as cool as JFK sailing on the family yacht with Jackie by his side… or Marilyn (depending on the time of day).
