Porsche Limited-Edition Watch Is an Elegant Tribute to the 911
It’s like wearing a classic sports car on your wrist.
Porsche is considered the height of German automotive design for a reason: The carmaker has nailed blending aesthetics with function into one timeless product. One of the best examples of this is the iconic 911.
Because the Porsche 911 embodies the company’s dedication to combining tradition and innovation more than any other model, Porsche created the new Porsche Design 911 Chronograph Timeless Machine Limited Edition to honor the 911’s 8th generation.
Porsche calls it “a watch created for timelessness,” and gives interesting details about its conception and creation:
With attention to detail, the Limited Edition makes the timeless elegance of the unique Porsche heritage a subject of discussion. Starting with the materials. The casing consists of titanium which ensures the essential lightweight construction in motorsports. And at the same time withstands maximum loads.
The form follows the same elegant design guidelines as the 911. The generously sized, black dial face is derived from its motorised role model. The white needles and indexes guarantee maximum readability both in the cockpit and on the wrist.
The flyline of the 911 on the dial face shows the origins at the first glance. Just like the strap which is made of original Porsche interior leather. The exclusive casing in sapphire crystal emphasises the uniqueness of the special edition. And the ‘TIMELESS MACHINE’ logo refers to both the new Porsche 911 and the limited quantity of 911 pieces.
If you’re a watch-lover as well as a fan of the 911, this is quite a cool combo.
But there’s a bit of a catch: Porsche states that the “Limited” in Limited Edition means there are just 911 of these beauties made. They come in a special Limited Edition Box, and Porsche encloses a model of the Porsche 911 (992) Carrera S with the order.
The Limited Edition Design Chronograph is available starting at the beginning of April 2019 for approximately $5,600.
