The Snoopy Watch That Commemorates Apollo 13

If it’s good enough for astronauts, it’s good enough for us.

This spring, OMEGA celebrated the 45th anniversary of Apollo 13 by debuting their Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award wrist piece. And now, the company is ready to release it to exactly 1,970 of you.

Come this September, the Snoopy watch will hit wrists everywhere in a limited-edition run that celebrates OMEGA’s relationship with NASA. During the first trip to the moon in 1969, OMEGA was present in the form of their manual winding Speedmaster Professional. The brand’s signature wristwatch also accompanied astronauts during the Apollo 13 crisis in 1970, when astronauts used their OMEGA timepieces to time operations to safely land after an explosion on board crippled the spacecraft. According to the company, OMEGA has been aboard every NASA manned space mission since March of 1965.

The new, limited-edition chronograph commemorates the Silver Snoopy award NASA presented the company with after the failed flight. The award itself, named after the famousPeanuts canine, celebrates people and companies that have significantly helped missions. The watch features the sketched character inside the sapphire crystal caseback as well as snoozing inside of an inset dial. The black and white colorway, a nod to the award’s newspaper comic origins, includes quotes like “Failure is not an option” as direct references to the Apollo 13 mission.

If you are so inclined, you can pre-order the $7,350 style at any OMEGA boutique.
