Panerai Launches Two Luminor Luna Rossa Watches Ahead of 2027 America’s Cup
The watchmaker expands its partnership with Italy’s Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team, debuting a limited-edition chronograph and a dual-time model.

Panerai has unveiled two new Luminor Luna Rossa timepieces, marking the official countdown to the 38th America’s Cup in Naples. The release strengthens the Italian-designed, Swiss-made watchmaker’s ongoing partnership with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team, combining high-performance horological engineering with the demanding requirements of elite competitive yachting on the open sea. (The luxe-minded sailing syndicate was notably established in 1997 by Patrizio Bertelli, CEO of the Prada fashion group.)
The first Panerai model in the latest drop, the Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono PAM01768, is housed in a 44-mm brushed steel case with a polished bezel. Powered by the automatic P.9210-caliber movement with a 42-hour power reserve, the watch is built for precision timing. It features a silver sun-brushed dial accented by the team’s signature red and white colors, along with a specialized speed tachymeter scale on the flange to calculate average boat speeds. The timepiece also introduces a new gray textile and rubber strap with a velcro closure, a first for the Luna Rossa line. This highly functional chronograph is limited to 500 pieces.

The second release, the Luminor Luna Rossa GMT PAM01791, comes in a compact 40-mm steel case. Engineered with the automatic P.900/GMT movement, the watch offers a three-day power reserve and a dual-time complication to track multiple time zones. Its silver dial features a red small seconds hand and a GMT hand shaped like the sail of the Luna Rossa vessel. This model debuts a tapered steel bracelet in the collection, featuring Panerai’s tool-free quick-release system that allows wearers to easily swap the metal links for other strap styles.

Both timepieces feature a water resistance rating of 100 meters, validated through the manufacturer’s advanced pressure testing procedures. The limited-edition Chrono PAM01768 is priced at $11,500, while the steel GMT PAM01791 retails for $11,400, and both models are available now at authorized Panerai boutiques and online.
