Luxury watchmaker Panerai has unveiled its latest high-performance diver, the Submersible Navy SEALs PAM01738, designed to salute the legacy of the famously elite special forces unit. The debut comes at a notable moment for patriotic timepieces, as Panerai drops a high-profile U.S. military collaboration ahead of the highly anticipated America 250 celebrations honoring the semiquincentennial anniversary of the Declaration of Independence this Fourth of July.

While tactical Navy SEAL-themed timepieces are traditionally favored by more affordable everyday wear brands like Luminox, which built its reputation on supplying lightweight tritium-illuminated watches to lethal combat units, Panerai’s latest launch reframes the military heritage timepiece through a high-end luxury lens. The connection honors Panerai’s own historic origins, as the watchmaker originally built its reputation by designing hyper-legible, radium-lit precision dive instruments exclusively for commandos in the Royal Italian Navy.

The PAM01738 channels that historical scope into a modern 44mm brushed stainless steel configuration. Engineered for extreme maritime environments, the watch features a unidirectional rotating steel bezel paired with a scratch-resistant, matte black ceramic insert. The dial features a shaded anthracite finish, a target-inspired running seconds sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position, and tactical yellow accents. For legibility in pitch-black waters, Panerai widened the hour markers by 20 percent and increased the Super-LumiNova X2 coating surface area by 45 percent. The dial utilizes an intuitive, dual-color luminous readout: hour indexes glow green, while the minute hand and 12 o’clock bezel pip illuminate in bright blue.

Beneath the dial, the watch runs on the automatic P.980 calibre mechanical movement, providing a three-day power reserve and a hacking seconds feature for exact time synchronization. The structural architecture includes an increased case-back thickness to achieve an impressive water-resistance rating of roughly 500 meters.

True to its military inspiration, each production piece undergoes individualized water-pressure checking to 25 percent past its stated limit alongside a rigorous laboratory validation protocol involving 19,000 sand-and-water bezel rotations and 5,000g shock impacts. The watch features a closed case back engraved with the official United States Navy SEALs insignia and is packaged with an interchangeable strap system featuring both a black rubber strap and a grey canvas strap.

The Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs PAM01738 watch will be available worldwide at authorized brand boutiques starting this July, with pricing available upon request.
