Percival Launches Luxe Take On Two Classic Clarks Boots

The Clarks Wallabee and Desert Trek get makeovers from the British footwear brand.

It’s not all that often that a steadfast shoe is due for a reboot (pun intended), but the best classic boots offer a nice jumping-off point. That’s perhaps why British menswear brand Percival used two timeless pairs of Clarks boots as a blank canvas for some fresh fall footwear.

The Percival x Clarks AW23 Beaded Pack debuts well ahead of prime boot weather, refreshing both the moccasin-style Clarks Wallabee and the Clarks Desert Trek in a way that feels modern and yet true to the standard set by the iconic British footwear brand.

While Clarks dates back to 1820s Somerset, England, Percival takes a by-the-bootstraps approach to fashion, designing and photographing each of its seasonal collections in its London studio.

Its ethos revolves around “subverting the classics,” and the Wallabee and Desert Trek are undeniably timeless in every way.

Percival notes that the Wallabee has been worn by everyone from The Verve to LeBron James to Wu-Tang Clan (and likely yourself, too).

At the core of the new (old) offering is the addition of beaded detailing in a nod to Percival’s latest fall collection. One pair of the Wallabee (priced agreeably at $210) gets a Percival Cola Check finish on the suede upper.

There’s also the customary Clarks hang tag accompanying each pair, and the shoe rests above the brand’s customary crepe rubber sole for comfort.

Clarks takes care in managing its archive of more than 20,000 boots, and tends to choose collaboration partners carefully: Todd Snyder debuted a winterized version of the Clarks Wallabee in past seasons.

Black and Maple Suede options round out the exclusive collection, which looks to be selling quickly online at Percival, and it’s not hard to see why: Rarity, exclusivity and a sharp take on a legendary pair of boots are all worth adding to your fall footwear rotation.
