Tag Heuer’s Newest Watch Is a True Technological Marvel

This $25,000 luxury timepiece uses carbon composite tech for the first time ever.

The last Tag Heuer watch we saw was a special edition Carrera Calibre Heuer 01 designed for Aston Martin drivers.

But buyers who pick up the Swiss luxury brand’s new release will be getting the first Tag with original and advanced new technology in addition to a head-turning bauble.

The Carrera Heuer 02T Tourbillon Nanograph’s carbon composite hairspring—the component that causes its elegant aluminum and white gold balance wheel to oscillate—was created and assembled exclusively by Tag Heuer scientists.

As the name suggests, the timepiece also has a tourbillon that is “capable of almost hypnotic movements” according to a Tag Heuer press release, as well as a COSC-certified chronograph.

The openworked dial displays a sand-blasted hexagon pattern above the rotating movement plate. Continuation of the carbon composite motif can be seen on the black PVD-treated oscillating weight through a sapphire case back.

As TechCrunch notes, the estimated $25,000 price tag is a steal considering that many watches with chronograph complications fetch around $100,000.
