You might think that the names used by adult actresses are just a combination of their first pet’s name and childhood street address, but as this video from Wood Rocket’s “Ask a Porn Star” series reveals, the real actresses have some surprisingly intriguing origin stories for their professional appellations. 

Take Charlotte Sartre, who named herself after a famous philosopher… kind of. “There’s this French philosopher named Jean-Paul Sartre,” she said. “I have one of his book titles tattooed under my tits, so I thought it would be fitting.”

Jasmine Webb revealed hers was a combination of “jazz,” which she loves to sing, “mean” because she’s a bad bitch, and “web” because she had a “conversation with a spider once,” presumably while she was tripping balls. 

Others, like Kiki Daire and Brooklyn Chase, are simpler. Kiki’s is a play “derriere,” and Brooklyn mixed and matched names from a baby book.
