Just days after Demi Lovato sang the national anthem at Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor's epic megabout, the sexy pop star was celebrating a remarkable fighting feat of her own.
The 25-year-old "Sorry Not Sorry" singer earned her blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the combat sport that the famed Gracie family made popular—and necessary—among all serious mixed martial arts organizations years ago.
"I fell in love with #BJJover a year ago and have been training several times a week ever since," a clearly ecstatic Lovato wrote in the caption. The change in belt color from white to blue means Demi is no longer a novice to the sport, and therefore can kick a lot of ass.
One of her coaches, Jay Glazer, flew in to present Lovato with the belt and congratulated her on her hard work in a separate Instagram post.
"I'm more proud of the work @ddlovato puts in with nobody watching than i am what she does with the world watching," Glazer wrote. "YOU put the grind in!"
The sport's belt system follows an notoriously strict regimen, so it'll be a while before Demi catches seasoned celebrity BJJ practitioners such as bad boy chef Anthony Bourdain or mixed martial arts maniac Joe Rogan.
She could definitely make the average Joe tap, though, and she would look pretty damn good doing it.
