A Hooters ballgirl looked as though she could’ve used a quick escape this Saturday after fielding a live ball at a spring training game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays in Clearwater, Fla.
Rays designated hitter Shelley Duncan smacked a grounder down the left field line that was scooped up by Priscilla, a Hooters ballgirl, and tossed to a young fan in the stands during the top of the sixth.
The young woman didn’t appear to realize she had just fielded a live ball until returning to her seat, where the point finally sunk in and she began covering her face and flashing a priceless “did I really just interfere with a Major League Baseball game?” smile.
Duncan was awarded second base due to the interference, giving Rays manager Joe Maddon good reason to praise the ballgirl for her help.
“She moved her feet well,” Maddon said via The Tampa Bay Times. “I thought she presented her hands to the ball very well also. The overall package was very, um, efficient.”
