“This 2005 two-part Kim Smith video is behind-the-scenes footage of our July cover shoot. There were actually four covers of the July issue that year. If you were a subscriber, you got the cover of Carmen Electra with her feet up in the air. On the newsstands you had a choice of others, including Kim, who was then making her fourth appearance on Maxim’s cover.


“Part 1 of Kim’s video was shot in the morning at Miauhaus Studios in Hollywood, Calif. Then after a quick catered lunch, the crew and model headed off to a very rural Hollywood-like movie set that housed antique and modern military aircraft and vehicles. At this location, Kim posed around an Army helicopter, in a supply truck and, of course, in even tinier bikinis. After the very successful and fun shoot, the super-friendly model hopped into her limo, waved goodbye and drove off into the sunset, while the crew boarded a rented shuttle bus that eventually broke down somewhere off the 405 North. It was almost two hours before a replacement shuttle came to pick us up!”—Brian Berkowitz
