Meet Three 2019 ‘Maxim Canada Cover Girl’ Competition Finalists
These gorgeous models all vied for the Maxim Canada Cover Girl crown.
The votes are in, and these these three models took third, fourth and fifth place in the 2019 Maxim Canada Cover Girl competition. Their loyal fans helped vote them in to their high-ranking positions this year, all while helping Maxim Canada contribute to the Canadian Cancer Society, a charitable organization of volunteers whose mission is to eradicate cancer and enhance the quality of life of those who have the disease.

Daniela Vrbancic- 5th Place
What was your favorite part of the Maxim Cover Girl competition?
My favorite must have been in the middle of the competition when all contestants were
frantic about votes and seeing my friends and family pull together, determined to help
me get to the next round. I received donations from people across the globe and that
just makes me feel pretty badass, to be honest.
Have you always been/wanted to be a model?
YES! Growing up I idolized Kate Moss, Coco Rocha and Cara Delevingne. Seeing these
beautiful, smart woman just dazzle behind the camera in their designer clothes with the
most fantastic makeup and hair…I just wanted to so badly be one of them. I started
modeling almost a year ago now and have done some incredible things, so I can’t wait
to see what else is in store for me!
What do you do on your free time when you are not modeling?
I actually work as a dental assistant when I’m trying not to become a fashion model. I also enjoy acting on the side (when I can get work, of course!) yoga, dancing,
gymnastics and I love to sing as well. What I want to
do more of is read, though, as I never have the time!
Where are you from?
My family is Croatian and Italian. I just got back from traveling in Croatia and had such
a spectacular time…the water from the Adriatic is a dream and the food is so fresh—everything is so local. I love the culture and people and I hope to move to Zagreb one
day to learn the language! I’m a proud Croat, as you can tell.
Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
I would have to say I find Lana Del Rey to be a complete goddess. She is ethereal with her
songs and demeanor- I’m planning on seeing her in Vancouver this Fall. My boy crush
is Jude Law from when he filmed The Holiday… wow. That’s all I have to say.

Tell us about your ideal date.
Hmm…I enjoy being surprised. But if I were to pick, I enjoy something romantic between
just the two of us… great wine, great conversation and something sweet to share for
dessert. I enjoy the simplicity of enjoying another ‘s company.
What is the worst pickup line you’ve ever heard?
A guy who ghosted me used a pick up line of “Hey baby, looking for a
boyfriend tonight? “ on my best friend in right front of me! Let’s just say he got what was
coming to him.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I’ve been lucky to have traveled the world so much already, but I would love to see
Tokyo, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji all in one long trip. Might as well try to see as
much as possible while I’m down there.
What are some of your hobbies?
Does procrastination count? Because if so, I do that one well and often. Usually I like to
see my best friend, plan shoots when I can find the time, watch Netflix, and just
have fun.
How will you use this experience to your advantage as you move
forward?
lI’ve met some incredible people along the way- Maxim Exsterno was a pretty
stellar event. I believe that the work a person puts into getting ahead and pushing
towards a goal is what they will get out of it. I’ve experienced that through the past year
personally and found that really hard work is the key to success, as cheesy as that
sounds. The advantage I will get out of this whole experience is the exposure I hope
and the people I meet along the way.
What are your goals as a model?
Become a Victoria’s Secret model! I also plan to travel the world and model for beautiful
designers. Whatever else comes my way, I’m sure I’ll be over the moon
If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all of your basic
needs such as food and water were taken care of, what two items would you want
to have with you?
My best friend so I don’t go crazy like Tom Hanks in Cast Away and I’d say the
internet so I can get off this crazy island!

What is your most unusual talent?
I am very good at using my feet as hands. It’s helpful when my hands are full.
Would you rather go 30 days without your phone or your entire life without
dessert?
I can go without my phone, no problem. It’s the sugar deficiency that would kill me, my
body wouldn’t survive.
If you were a man for a day, what would be the first thing you do?
Y’all know the scene in Bruno of him helicoptering? THAT.
What is the weirdest thing you find attractive in a person?
The way they breathe. If they have an annoying way of doing it, I find it hard to get over.

Who would you most like to sit next to on a ten-hour flight?
My sister Adriana or my best friend Hutton. Both are crazy fun to be around and it
makes the flight suck a little less when you have a Nintendo buddy.
If you could jump into a pool full of something, what would it be?
I suppose Jell-O would be kinda fun in a way but also delicious— flavor would be the blue raspberry.
What is your favorite day of the week?
Wednesday, mostly because of watching The Addams Family while I was growing up, but also because the week
just seems to go smoother, as they say. Also, it’s called “hump day” and that’s
just hilarious on its own.
Adiel Grech – 4th Place
What was your favorite part of the Maxim Cover Girl competition?
Meeting the people behind Maxim, both the finalists and the team! It was great being able to get to know them and just have a fun time. Additionally, marketing is a huge passion of mine and Maxim allowed me to test and implement different strategies with my audience to improve my ranking. In doing so, it gave me the ability to get to know my fans on a one-on-one basis. Without them, I wouldn’t have gotten this far.
Have you always been/wanted to be a model?
No, I’ve mainly been focused on advancing my business career while leveraging the marketing skills I’ve learned to build my social media presence. In turn, that’s led to my modeling and online success.
What do you do on your free time when you are not modeling?
Singing is a huge passion of mine! My parents met in a music academy so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. I’ve taken vocal lessons for several years so my friends often make fun of me by calling me Adele, rather than Adiel.
Where are you from?
Although my background is Russian, I was actually born in Israel and lived there for a few years. However, part of my heart belongs to Toronto where I currently reside. On the bright side, this made me trilingual.

Tell us about your ideal date.
Honestly, the best dates I’ve had are the most simple ones where I’m holding food in one hand and my partner’s hand in the other while snuggling on the couch watching Netflix. I’m extremely nervous on dates (I’ve spilled water on all my dates) so anything that makes me feel like I’m in my comfort zone and nothing fancy is preferred.
What is the worst pickup line you’ve ever heard?
“Do you like figs? How about a date? ” Now that I’m thinking about it, I actually kind of like it.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
There’s so many places I haven’t traveled yet. For starters, I’d like to fly back to Madrid, where I lived for 4 months. I’d also like to visit Asia in the future with a partner when I can appreciate it more.
What are some of your hobbies?
Every time someone asks this question, I forget my hobbies. Singing, makeup, travelling and Zumba sum up my life.
How will you use this experience to your advantage as you move forward?
Meeting the team behind Maxim Canada has inspired me to want to work with them in the future. Furthermore, I want to use this learning experience to continue connecting with my fans and getting to know them so I can show my appreciation.
What are your goals as a model?
I am always looking to stay on top of social media as a marketing tool and modelling is a way for me to stay current. I never expected to be a model, so everything at this point is above and beyond my expectations.
If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all of your basic needs such as food and water were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?
Means of communication to the outside world, and a comfortable bed. Clearly, you can see where my priorities lie.

What is your most unusual talent?
I can put you inside of a human bubble. I used to be a party entertainer trained in the art of bubble creation. Feel free to DM me to get a visual of this.
Would you rather go 30 days without your phone or your entire life without dessert?
My go-to dessert is brownies, so I would happily give up my phone for 30 days over a lifetime without brownies. However, I can also guarantee that everyone I hang out with would not believe this.
If you were a man for a day, what would be the first thing you do?
I’m not even going to say it because every girl is already thinking it. Also, I’d compliment a girl on her personality.
What is the weirdest thing you find attractive in a person?
Their hands, they look nice holding mine when I get my nails done.
Who would you most like to sit next to on a ten-hour flight?
I am literally fascinated with Britney Spears and Rihanna. Absolute legends.
If you could jump into a pool full of something, what would it be?
People go for either pillows, margaritas or money. I’d go for pillows.

What was your favorite part of the Maxim Cover Girl competition?
My favorite part of the competition was the anticipation and the amazing encouragement from my supporters. It really sparked up engagement and that I absolutely loved!
Have you always been/wanted to be a model?
I think it’s a dream of many people to model. Yes I have always wanted to be in the modeling and acting industry.
What do you do on your free time when you are not modeling?
In my spare time I foster youth and have a livestock rescue. This is my life! Modeling and acting is something I do for myself as enjoyment and a mental escape.
Where are you from?
I’m from a rural community Glenlea, Manitoba Canada and have a small acreage.
Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
My biggest celebrity crush is Brett Eldredge, he had the voice of a songbird with a flare!
Tell us about your ideal date.
An ideal date would be to ride with my special sweetheart to a private beach, cooking a stellar meal by fire, making magic into the sunset, fishing and having a night swim.

What is the worst pickup line you’ve ever heard?
The worst pickup line is “I think we would look great in a photograph together.” Too many people worry about the appearance of things rather than legitimate connection!
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
If I could travel anywhere, aside from a beach destination, I would love to go on a jungle safari too embrace the beauty of the wild.
What are some of your hobbies?
Some of my hobbies include singing, acting, cooking, collecting antiques, horseback riding and rehabilitating livestock. These I like to consider more my passion than hobbies!
How will you use this experience to your advantage as you move forward?
I plan to use the experience and exposure from the competition to pursue more opportunities, set higher goals and expectations for myself.
What are your goals as a model?
My goals as a model are not only to model brands but also to be a positive influence and role model for others interested in the industry. Help show and teach new generations of models how to maintain respect for themselves and how to notice all the “red flags” to stay safe.
If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all of your basic needs such as food and water were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?
If I was shipwrecked the two things I’d need would be a knife and a pot.

What is your most unusual talent?
I’d say my unusual talent is my ability to reach animals. I feel that it’s more of a blessing!

I would rather go 30 days without my phone than have no desserts, hands down!
If you were a man for a day, what would be the first thing you do?
If I were a man for a day, the first thing I’d do is walk around topless to get a great tan.
What is the weirdest thing you find attractive in a person?
The weirdest things I find attractive about a person is their hair, height, shoulder width and jaw structure. As for personality traits, I’d say their ability to communicate and assertiveness.
Who would you most like to sit next to on a ten-hour flight?
I’d like it to be sitting next to my best friend as we can either sit in silence and completely enjoy each other’s company or we can joke around the rest of the time.
If you could jump into a pool full of something, what would it be?
If I could jump into a pool of something it would be jello.

My favorite day of the week is Saturday. It starts and ends with no pressure!
