Ronda Rousey Weighs In on the Gender Pay Gap
Her response may not be what you expected.
Maxim favorite Ronda Rousey was recently in Australia doing some publicity for her upcoming fight against Holly Holm when she was asked to weigh in on a controversial issue gripping the Aussie sports world — the pay disparity between the Australian men and women’s national soccer teams.
Here’s what she had to say:
Don’t misconstrue this as an anti-feminist screed, though: Rousey is simply a fan of the meritocracy. It’s a point she emphasized when she told Self magazine that she’d like people to refer to her as champion without slapping the word “woman” in front of it. “I want my name to be mentioned along with Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali,” she added.
It’s a lofty goal, but not an unachievable one. Especially when you consider the major difference between those men and this woman: Rousey has never lost.
