In 2011 you were nominated for co-writing the Eminem-Rihanna hit “Love the Way You Lie.”
The way that happened is crazy. I moved to L.A. when I was 17 with a record deal, went broke, and decided to work my way up the coast doing a bunch of weird jobs. The worst was editing porn. It’s unhealthy to spend nine hours a day looking at people’s buttholes.
So buttholes led to Eminem?
I was living in a cabin in the woods and super depressed. That’s when I wrote the song. To have it picked up and handed off to other artists was new for me, but I’m so glad it happened, because it brought me back to the music industry.
