Kevin Feige doesn’t say yes, but he doesn’t say no.

When Rowdy Ronda Rousey said in a Reddit AmA that she wanted to “vie for Miss Marvel” in an upcoming production of Captain Marvel, fans went bananas creating awesome depictions of the UFC champ in the role

In an interview given to IGN while promoting the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron on Blu-ray, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige didn’t turn his nose up at the idea of Rousey in the role. “I love it,” he told IGN’s Terri Schwartz. Feige said statements like Rousey’s were “a testament more to the strength of the characters” and mentioned other Marvel roles that had captured vocal interest from actors and athletes in the past, such as  The Wolverine in the studio’s successful X-Men franchise.

Pressed to comment on whether Miss Marvel might truly be a good fit for Rousey, Feige gave a carefully considered answer highlighting performers selected for other roles, such as “an actor like Chris Hemsworth who bulks up” for Thor—or “a wrestler like Dave Bautista who played Drax who ends up being an amazing performer, an amazing actor and a clever and witty and pointed comedic actor” in Guardians of the Galaxy

Feige has addressed the fact that the Captain Marvel film is still three years off in other interviews, and said casting won’t really be an issue until 2016. Basically: ‘hey, it’s all good, she sounds great, it isn’t cast yet.’

We don’t know all the Machiavellian maneuvering that goes on behind casting a tentpole feature, but we’re certain if Ronda Rousey could win the role by fighting her competition in the ring, a Rousey Captain Marvel would be a done deal.
