The 2013 NFL Big 5: Week 4

Will the Patriots host a blowout and what the hell happened to the NFC East?

The new NFL week is here and with it comes chaos. Fortunately, Maxim is here to help you navigate these uncharted waters with five predictions that will undoubtedly (or just maybe) come true.

Big Upset – Houston over Seattle


Most oddsmakers tend to have a short memory, and the walloping that the Ravens put on the Texans last week certainly stuck in their minds when they gave a strong Houston team some points at home to play with. On the other side of the coin, Seattle is coming off a game against Jacksonville, which is a little bit like taking a week-long beach vacation. Still, Russell Wilson has struggled against good defenses and Arian Foster is itching to break out of timeshare jail with Ben Tate.

Big Performance – Tom Brady


So while we were all busy talking about how much of a mess the Patriots are, they quietly went 3-0. Sure, they beat the Bills, Jets, and Bucs (the LMAO-iest of NFL teams), but wins is wins, man. Tom Brady steps back into primetime football (we aren’t counting Thursday night – that’s like the little brother of real football broadcasts), where he’s done some fine work, and takes on an Atlanta team that is still handing off to Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling. Hopefully Brady closes this out in time for everyone to go watch Breaking Bad.

Big Flop – Jordan Cameron


The late-round tight end has been an insane pickup for anyone who is playing him, and the fact that he’s put up the numbers he has with Brandon Weeden and Brian Hoyer is even more insane. He’s due for a fall-off though, and the Cincinnati D is the perfect corps to give it to him.

Big Storyline – NFC Least


What happened to you guys? You were supposed to be the powerhouse, now it looks like a .500 record might send one of you to the playoffs. You have the greatest Redskin QB since Theismann, the offensive dynamite of Chip Kelly, this guy, and this guy. And yet, you have the same amount of wins combined as Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs. And to think, we told all of our friends that you were cool.

Big Stinker – Cardinals at Bucs


Both of these teams are in a division that is starting to look a lot softer than projected, setting them up for an unlikely playoff run. Unfortunately, both teams only have one win between them and Mike Glennon is starting in this game. Could it be an exciting Brian Hoyer situation? No. No, it could not.
