Supagroup
Supagroup makes a pretty convincing case that a bad attitude and an assload of searing '70s hard-rock riffs are all you need to build a band. The New Orleans quartets second album wont win any points for subtlety, but when your songs have titles like It Takes Balls and Lets Go (Get Wasted), subtlety probably isnt your primary selling point. The influences are obvious: Ruling (Is Its Own Reward) is a vintage AC/DC stomp, Hot Times effectively recalls a time when Aerosmith didnt pen car commercials, and you better believe any band with a song called Hog Wild knows its Ted Nugent. Sometimes, the line between earnest, balls-out rock and unintentional self-parody is mighty thin, but when it all comes in behind a roaring riff'n'roll assault, few people are likely to complain. Its not like you could hear them, anyway.
