2009 Washington Wizards Dancers-

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

I've been fortunate to do both NFL and NBA, so being inside with the crowd closer to you makes performing more of a rush, making it the best. The worst part would be practice two days a week when you have three games, making your schedule simply chaotic. In all, it's worth it!

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

I'd have to say Kristy Swanson from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She was an original!

What’s the worst cheerleading injury you’ve ever had?

I went eight years ACL deficient, so my knee would pop out of place all the time. In the past six years, I've had numerous surgeries to fix the problem from full ACL reconstruction, to meniscus repair.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

We live and cheer in an area rich with various cultures. We are part of an organization that has poured its heart into its team, as well as the community that surrounds it.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Michael Jordan. He was one of the best, and even when he returned to the court he was still able to compete with the young guys.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing, besides our awesome kickline, would be the rush of learning and performing so many diverse routines at lightening speed, and the many charitable events we participate in throughout the year. The worst thing would be traveling to the Virgin Islands for our calendar shoot...such a tough one! j/k :)

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

This one's a no-brainer: nerd...without any hesitation! The only jocks that I'm into are computer jocks. Maybe I just like nerds who think they are jocks? ;)

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

Most likely, at work. But, if I'm not at work, I'm usually checking out the local Renaissance Fair, or hitting up the local karaoke establishment with my sister...we do a mean "Devil Went Down to Georgia," where we switch off parts. Last time we brought the house down...literally. The sound system came crashing down and we finished acapella. It was riveting.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

I might be a little biased, but we happen to cheer for the home team of the nation's capital (aka the best city in the country)...it doesn't get much better that that. Aside from being in the District, the Wizards organization is wonderful to be a part of. Everyone feels valued for his/her contributions.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Gheorghe Muresan. He has one of the greatest personalities and sense of humor. I loved the commercials he did...especially the Snickers commercial.

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

Lots of possibilities...modeling/dance choreography, get my college degree and then maybe Grad school down the road. I'd love to own my own dance studio at some point in my life.

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

Hayden Panettiere. She's tough through and through, plus she's trying to save the whales!

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

I'm still in college, so I just try to strike a nice balance with the parties and hanging out at home.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

Who can resist a good Wizard? Well we have a whole team of them! Plus, there's nothing like representing the nation’s capital. It simply rocks!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Michael Jordan, because he's the first player I remember watching as a kid.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

Well of course we love dancing, but the best is when fans of the opposing team come up and want to talk to us and say that we're hotter than their team's cheerleaders! Now that's a compliment! The worst thing for me is remembering all of the dances! We have 42 home games - That's a lot of choreography for a person with ADD! Luckily I learn fast, so I can generally get it after five or six times.

What’s the craziest thing a dude’s ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

Well, men can be all kinds of ridiculous, but my favorite was the high school group who signaled to me from the stands that this shy guy in the middle was in love with me. Then they signaled his number to me and yelled my name the whole game! So after the game, I waved them to come down to the court, and I took pictures with my new 'lover,' and gave him a kiss on the cheek!

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

I work for the House of Representatives as an Executive Assistant for a Congressman.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

Because we have so many awesome players! They make the game worth watching and play with heart every game!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Tony Parker, because he's married to my girl-crush, Eva Longoria! ;) For real though, probably Acie Law with the Golden State Warriors. I cheered for him in college at Texas A&M, where he was an All-American, and he's a real playmaker.

2009 Washington Wizards Dancers-

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing is representing the Wizards girls at various charity events. The worst thing is the extra long practices, but that’s just because I have to get up early the next day.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

I prefer to stay at home with my family and pets. Being a NBA dancer is time consuming, so when I do have free time, I like to relax and unwind.

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

I work full-time as an electrical engineer, and I spend a lot of my free time taking my dogs to the dog park.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

I believe we have very talented players. They may not win every game, but they play extremely hard and always put forth their best effort.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Michael Jordan is my favorite player of all-time. He made all his teammates better players through his will and relentless desire to win. And he just happened to have played for the Wizards at the end of his career.

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

Its definitely been a surreal experience being a NBA dancer. My next goal…hmm? I'd love to be in the next Maxim issue for the NBA hottest dancers! ;) Okay, I had to throw that in there. Seriously though, I have many goals I want to accomplish. I plan to be the top sales executive in my company, learn how to speak Italian, eventually start a family, and of course hit the lottery! ;)

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

How about the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kristy Swanson!? She’s a cheerleader who could kick butt and kill vampires, how hot is that?

What’s the craziest thing a dude’s ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

I was driving to one of our games, and this guy pulls up to me at a light and asks me to roll my window down. He asked me, “Excuse me, did you just get a ticket?” I said, “No”. He replies, “Well you should have, because you have fine written all over you!” Lame, but it did make me laugh.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Washington Wizards know how to keep the games exciting and make the right shots at the right time. Its’ amazing to see the clock winding down and look to the crowd to see all the faces hoping and waiting for Gilbert (Arenas) to make the winning shot, then swoosh, he makes it and the crowd goes wild. I love that!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

My favorite NBA player of all time is MJ…for all the obvious reasons. He’s a basketball icon, he’s an amazing ball player on both offense and defense, and of course because he’s part of the Wizards' family.

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

My next dream or goal is to continue dancing, maybe with a professional dance company that travels. I'd also like to continue with school and earn a Master's degree.

What’s the craziest thing a dude’s ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

One time, a guy that was sitting in the 400 level of the arena managed to find a way to get a note passed all the way down to the court to me. The note read, "I think you're so beautiful, will you please have dinner with me?", with his number. I thought it was sweet but I had no idea who he was.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

I like to hang out with my closest friends, whether it's going out in the city for the night, or having a movie night.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Wizard Girls are the best to cheer for because we get to represent the Nation's Capitol. Doesn't get much better than that!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Michael Jordan comes first. He's a legend. Second is Kobe Bryant. I have always liked the Lakers, and I've been a fan since he came into the league.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing is being able to perform at all the home games since I love basketball! The worst is the hectic schedule. Sometimes it can get exhausting having 2-3 games plus practices each week.

What’s the worst cheerleading injury you’ve ever had?

When I was cheering in the AFL I was hit by a football player trying to make a catch and hurt my back. I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance from the game and my back hasn’t been the same since. It’s funny now, but not so much then.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

Nerd. Intelligence is sexy.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

Because they’re a young and exciting team, especially when everyone is healthy! They work really hard and care a lot for the community and their fans. Go Wizards!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Clyde Drexler of the Portland Trail Blazers. I'm from Oregon and grew up watching him, and going to Blazer games with my dad and uncle. He was so exciting and a great player, but also a nice man and admirable and respectable off the court. I’ll never forget when I got his autograph as a little girl!

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

I would love to travel the world. It's something I’ve always wanted to do. I want to learn another language fluently, go somewhere not having to feel like a tourist, and get to learn more about other cultures. It’s a dream of mine.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

I’m actually still in college, lol. I love to stay in a lot of nights and relax, but the weekend is when I come alive!

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

That’s a hard one because when I think about it…when am I not dancing? Outside of the NBA, I am a senior dance major at the University of Maryland, go Terps! I dance all day long because it is my passion and what I’d like to make my future out of and my career.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Wizards are the best to cheer for because they have such a great history, that I am so happy to have become a part of that. The Verizon Center has become the heart of DC, and our players are hardworking and dedicated. There is nothing better to be so proud of!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Michael Jordan, because he is talented in so many areas. Not only can he play basketball better than almost anyone, but he has broadened his horizons to prove that basketball is not the only sport he’s amazing at, and we are very grateful for his support for our team in the past.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

Dancing with the NBA brings so many opportunities. I've had the pleasure to represent the Wizards in China as well as make history by shooting the first NBA swimsuit calendar shot in another country! With so many great opportunities given to my teammates and I, we give a lot of time to the Wizards but by no means would I say this is a downfall because I enjoy every minute of it!

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

I think I've always gone for the good looking nerd. Since I've always had a love of learning, I've always gravitated to guys who share this with me. Knowing a guy who is goal oriented and is ambitious is attractive.

What’s the craziest thing a dude’s ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

I was at a party in college and a guy, who was into spoken word poetry, recited a freestyle poem in front of everyone, where he ended up asking for my number at the end. He did get my number, but we never went out on a date!

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Wizards are a very exciting team to cheer for. The organization itself is constantly thinking of new, innovative ways to make the games more exciting for the crowd and the basketball team itself has been working really hard this year. They have a lot of potential to move up in the world of basketball, and I totally believe in our players!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

I know it's cliché but I would have to say Michael Jordan. I'm from Chicago and I am proud that my hometown is the same as basketball's number one legend. He also played for the Wizards!
