The long-awaited Call of Duty live-action movie is officially underway. The script based on Activision’s massively popular game has already been written, and sources say Sicario 2 director Stefano Sollima is a lock to direct.

Speaking with Metro from Milan, the Italian director revealed his ideal leading men: Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.

About Hardy, Sollima said, “I mean, I like almost everything [he’s been in]. I’m waiting for his Venom. Even in Mad Max, he was great.”

About Pine, Sollima said he’s capable of melding comedy with drama, a sign of the potential tone of the upcoming movie.

“He’s tough, but he’s smart and he can have a sense of humor but he can [also] be in such a dramatic role,” Sollima said.

“I like when you feel that an actor can play with different nuances and tone because this means they’re a good actor.”

Both have impressive action movie resumes: Hardy is undeniably the most sought-after actor in Hollywood, and Pine has played everything from Captain Kirk to Wonder Woman’s right-hand man.

What’s more, Pine and Hardy have been in a movie together before, the 2012 spy comedy This Means War.

Their chemistry would probably light up the screen, whenever the Call of Duty movie finally hits theaters.
