Gucci Mane Slept Through His Sex Scene
And other things we learned from the Spring Breakers Publicity Tour
Chances are you’ve wanted to see Spring Breakers ever since those florescent bikinis caught your eye last year. Well, today is the day you’ve been waiting for. After months of teasing with late-night interviews, festival appearances, and even a Maxim shoot, the movie is finally opening nationwide. So before you and your bros head to the multiplex to check out Selena Gomez’s new flick (because that’s one way to look at it), here are the top five things we learned from the Spring Breakers publicity tour.

Gucci Mane slept through his sex scene.
You’d think that after director Harmony Korine went through the effort of finding Gucci Mane an impressive love interest (a girl with a booty grand enough to balance three or four Coke cans), he’d at least have the decency to stay awake during the sex scene. Well, he didn’t. Apparently the scene was shot at 4am and after a full day of smoking weed the rapper was basically catatonic.
James Franco was as creepy as his character.

Because he stayed in character the entire time. In addition to telling Letterman that she made Justin Bieber cry, Selena Gomez also revealed that she didn’t meet the real James Franco until they started doing press.
Vanderbilt girls might be crazy.
Sure, you could head down to Panama City this spring break and bump into plenty of real life spring breakers who were used as extras in the film, but if you want to meet hot, insane, and violent girls like the four main characters, head to Nashville. According to Korine, Faith, Candy, Brit, and Cotty “are all Vanderbilt University names. I just wanted them to be Vandy girls, really. They seem like those girls.”
Everyone owes Selena Gomez’s mom a big thank you.
Turns out Mama Gomez is a huge Harmony Korine fan and suggested her daughter give the risqué role a shot. “I watched all of his movies with my mom and I wanted to be part of it,” Selena told MTV. We’re sure she made her mama proud.
Go ahead and stare at the girls in bikinis.

There was a lot of thought put into those neon two-pieces, so appreciate them! Costume designer Heidi Bivens took the effort to bomb through mall stores like Victoria Secret and Hot Topic to find pieces that the girls would realistically wear and had each actress try on about a hundred bathing suits each before settling on their final costumes.
