How To Make a Bong-a-Rita
Is it 4:20 yet? Get lifted with a margarita made with a BONG.
Margaritas are pretty great, but you know what makes them even better? If you smoke ’em out with a bong, dude. That’s right, two of everyone’s favorite vices, tequila and marijuana, join forces in this “Bong-a-Rita” made exclusively for Maxim by Jason Eisner, beverage director at Gracias Madre in West Hollywood.
The cannabis-inspired cocktail is a simplified version of the “Up in Smoke” served at Gracias Madre and pictured below. Sadly, the hemp seeds used here won’t actually get you high, they’ll merely impart “a nutty flavor”, Eisner says.
But feel free to fire one up while making the Bong-a-Rita—after all, it’s 4:20 somewhere, right?
The Bong-a-Rita:
What You’ll Need:
2 oz. Tequila Blanco
1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
.5 oz. agave nectar
1 pinch sea salt
1 pinch hemp seeds
1 glass bong
1 cork
1 PolyScience Smoking Gun
Instructions:
Put tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, and sea salt in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and fine strain into a glass bong. Cork the bong, then use a PolyScience Smoking Gun and the hemp seeds to smoke up the inside of the bong. Allow the gun to smoke for a good thirty seconds to impart nutty flavor and aroma. Pour into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with lime peel, and prepare for lift-off.
