We Can’t Wait for the MADtv 20-Year Reunion Special

Key will be there! (But no Peele.)

Believe it or not, but it’s been (over) 20 damn years since MADtv premiered on Fox in 1995. The comedy sketch show, inspired by Mad magazine, ran for 14 seasons before ending its celebrated run in 2009.

And seeing that the movie & TV business is deep into nostalgia these days, it’s no surprise that MADtv will be the subject of an anniversary reunion special, airing on the CW on January 12.

According to Deadline, the hourlong reunion special will feature MADtv players of varied tenures, — and a lot of them. Crista Flanagan, Anjelah Johnson, Nicole Randall Johnson, Keegan-Michael Key, Phil LaMarr, Artie Lange, Bobby Lee, Michael McDonald, Arden Myrin, Nicole Parker, Eric Price, Will Sasso, Aries Spears, Nicole Sullivan, Stephanie Weir, Debra Wilson, Ike Barinholtz, Alex Borstein, and Mo Collins will all star. The special will present both vintage and new material around a story about the cast attending a “glamorous awards show.” 

The MadTV 20th Anniversary Reunion will air on Tuesday, January 12, at 8 p.m.
