Maxim’s Hot 100 #2 Selena Gomez is All Grown Up on “Stars Dance”
The Disney princess-turned-sexpot goes full pop diva on her solo debut.
2013 has seen Selena Gomez date, dump, and maybe date again (hard to keep track) that evil Canadian elf Justin Bieber. It’s seen her strip down to her bikini in Spring Breakers. And now, on her debut solo album, she shows she’s ready to leave Mickey Mouse behind and embrace adulthood. Combining electro, dubstep, synth-pop, and hip-hop, she’s hitting all the usual notes as her post-Britney, post-Rihanna contemporaries like Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, and Vanessa Hudgens. Which isn’t a bad thing. She even addresses the breakup that nearly broke the internet on “Forget Forever,” a dance-pop banger that’s just begging for the Bieber response track that we’ll never get around to listening to. In the meantime, check out the video for the official first single, and you’ll see why we have such a major crush on the girl.
