‘South Park’ Takes On Colin Kaepernick and the National Anthem
After 20 seasons, this is what Trey Parker and Matt Stone still do best.
Known for taking hot button issues and putting a graphic, animated twist on them, South Park is amping up its season 20 premiere with their take on Colin Kaepernick’s protest against the National Anthem.
The clip, featured above, parodies the 49ers quarterback, who has been kneeling when the song is performed at the beginning of a game as a protest against police brutality and racial oppression. The people of Colorado’s famous little mountain town flip-flop on the issue just as the American public often does.
This is just the first of 10 episodes to come during which we’re sure Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman and the rest of their friends and neighbors will continue holding their hilarious funhouse mirror up to society. You can watch the full episode at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
